ABOUT THE BOOK
"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates"(Deuteronomy 6:4-9). This devotional book contains Charles Spugeon's A PURITAN CATECHISM, Robert Murray McCheyne's DAILY BREAD, and the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith (in modern English), for use in personal and family devotions.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Jon has served the Lord as a missionary to the Philippines, as pastor in California, and as a missionary-pastor to congregations in remote "bush" Alaska, among the Aleut people of King Cove, and the Yup'ik people of Scammon Bay. Since symptoms began to manifest in Scammon Bay in 2007, of what might be Lou Gehrig's disease, Jon and his family have had to leave their beloved Yup'ik brothers and sisters in Scammon Bay for the lower 48 states. Still awaiting final diagnosis through the VA Hospital, Jon continues to serve the Lord despite the symptoms. The congregation of Sovereign Grace Baptist Church in Anniston, Alabama has recently called him to be their pastor. Jon has humbly answered the Lord's call and has been ministering in Alabama since January 2009.
