Jonah and the Whale: A Story of Addiction

by Annabah Alazim
Jonah and the Whale: A Story of Addiction is a book about a two-fold process called the addiction/recovery cycle and its four broad aspects: addiction, its causes, treatment and recovery. It uses the exciting and epic tale of Jonah as a backdrop to help show the dynamics of the addiction/recovery cycle. Why the story of Jonah? Jonah's episode personifies the eight major events that most substance abusers experience in their 'desire' to flee responsibility and hide out in Tarshish; using mind altering substances.
